Plastic engineering – recycled future.

Integration of recycled plastics in various industrial sectors.

The plastic industry is one of the most established emerging industries that are at the forefront of technology. Plastic materials are found in all areas of our life today, and in fact fill the earth among others pollution, non-biodegradable material and the problems of landfill and recycling. However, the plastics engineering serves many services today in the packaging sector, agriculture, industry and construction, electrical and electronics, transportation and traffic, clothing and footwear, medicine, and domestic, toys and sports, and more. And of course, in the field of electronic packages such as phones, USB flash disk, computer cases and so on.

As mentioned above, the most significant sector is the plastic packaging market, which consists more than 35% of the plastics market. The main reason for this is the need to preserve shelf life of nutrients and drugs. In many cases, the package and software shelf life is very short-lived, few days to a few months.      This requires finding effective ways of waste disposal treatments, re-use of empty containers, biodegradation, etc.

Due to the rapid consumption, crude oil sources increasingly are getting scarce, as well as raw materials for the production of plastic materials. All of which have led over the past decade a frantic search for new sources for the plastics industry which is not based on the oil industry.

New sources of plastic produced from corn crop, sugarcane and even weeds, all of which will become in the future, the plastic materials of the green new modern industry. Plastic properties based on natural materials would be very similar to those of the materials familiar to us, but the latter will disintegrate into components such as water and CO2, which do not pollute the environment. We are likely to see a significant change in the market of raw plastic materials: biodegradable materials will become a reality. Then the plastics will join the many materials that have “green” properties. The rapid consumption of plastic products, innovative waste treatment, and finding new sources are the main reasons the plastics professionals are obliged to emphasize the plastic engineering concept, with its future use and especially the reuse and recycling of packaging, and various plastic products.

Plastics industries in general and Israel in particular are within momentum of development: the export of this industry today is vast (Israel currently exports products worth over $ 1.5 billion per year) and production for the local market is accelerated (today it stands at about three billion dollars per year). The Implications of the plastic engineering are in all the principal industries: car industry, packaging industry, industry signage and decoration, building industry, medicine, microelectronics, agriculture, defense industry, government, coatings and adhesives, consumer products, premier industries, housewares, children games and toys and DIY products. The toy industry, for example, is a fertile ground for the production and use of plastic engineering , using both environmentally friendly materials, and materials recycling and educating children for intelligent use of plastic
